CAPTIVE NECKPIECE Some "creature" breathes through this
fleshy, skin-like metal, and "hangs" on delicate hooks. Ribs, veins, and flesh
similar to our own bodies stretch across the hammered and bulging surfaces. Biomorphic in
nature, the inspiration for this piece began with ideas of tree forms and female
sexuality. The overall form is fierce and aggressive. Faces stare at the viewer through
the symmetrical abstract imagery. It is completely hand-hammered in the ancient technique
of chasing and repoussage, fully refined and articulated after ~200 hours.
Blackened
sterling silver and hand dyed, formed, and stained leather. |
