VALKYRIE: PHALLUS HEADDRESS
[H1] In line with the Valkyrie huntresses, the Phallus headdress offers ideas of captive slaves, bridal and funeral imagery, and morbid and macabre celebration. To others, the veil appears as a blindfold; unbeknownst to them, the wearer is aware of all around her. Cast latex, wire construct, and fabric. "Valkyrie" was selected for an International Women's Day art exhibit in Naples, Florida, and was subject to attempted censorship by local officials for its "questionable" content. The piece was displayed over their objections. "Valkyrie" appeared as the image for the "Exotic Erotic Fantasy Ball", Philadelphia, Pa (1999). |
